Thornlie, the largest campus of Polytechnic West, is approximately 10km from the CBD to the south east.

The campus has specialised workshops, and offers courses in the areas of community services, mining and engineering, business and information technology and building and construction.
Thornlie has over 20 specialist computing laboratories, a fully equipped gymnasium for health and fitness training, and access to modern heavy vehicles.

Parking: On-site parking, where available, will be charged at the rate of $44 per semester, payable at enrolment. Student parking permits can be purchased from Customer Service Centres on Polytechnic West campuses at time of enrolment. To purchase a permit a student must show proof of enrolment (such as a validated enrolment form) and complete a parking permit application form. Parking application forms are available from Polytechnic West Customer Service Centres. Parking permits in the form of adhesive windscreen stickers will be supplied as part of the enrolment process.
Parking signs prohibiting parking on any ring road or on lawn areas will be enforced by the City Ranger who will issue infringement notices. Parking access is authorised to:
- Car park No. 2 which has 586 bays and is on a first come first served basis. When the car park is full, a sign will be displayed.
- Students with a disability have access to designated bays in both car park No. 1 and 2.
Car parks can be accessed Monday to Thursday between 7:30am and 10:00pm; Friday between 7:30am and 5:00pm, during term. Security guards patrol both car parks regularly during these periods.
No need to bring your lunchbox!
The Thornlie cafeteria is open Monday to Friday (hours posted at the door) and, the campus is within easy walking distance to Centro Maddington Shopping Centre with over 80 retailers.
Access to information is easy
The library provides:
A large and diverse resource collection of books, magazines and DVDs;
- Assistance with researching for information and answers to reference enquiries;
- Information sessions on library and information services, supported with published and online information guides;
- Assistance with study, referencing and learning skills;
- Networked and wireless computer areas;
- Access to electronic information such as internet and databases; and
- Access to audiovisual equipment.
Students can access Polytechnic West’s Library catalogue, databases and web directories, as well as the Student Portal, from the Library website. Library publications including referencing and study guides can be freely downloaded from the website.
The library also has information on opening hours, contact details, library policies and rules, interactive tours and services.

Disability Services can assist local students in minimising any barriers to study caused by disability or a medical condition. The staff will coordinate services to meet individual needs; work to eliminate barriers which may disadvantage students; assist students to achieve their education and career goals; and encourage students to be independent and take responsibility for their course of study.
