Carlisle Campus

Here you’ll find Western Australia's major centre for automotive training. Automotive apprentices and pre-apprentices enjoy access to specialised equipment including vehicles, automotive repair and diagnostic equipment, fully-equipped spray painting ovens, specialised workrooms and workshops for their training.

The Carlisle Refrigeration and Air Conditioning unit is also Western Australia's premier centre for refrigeration, air conditioning and associated studies. The purpose built facility is one of the best of its kind in the southern hemisphere.

Also unique to Carlisle is the Industrial Automation and Robotics Department , attached to a top class Technology Centre, where technicians of tomorrow can undertake an Advanced Diploma program of training based on ‘up to the minute’ Automation and Control Technology.

Getting Here

By train: Direct to Oats Street Train Station (situated opposite the campus) on the Armadale line

By Bus: Circle bus route from Armadale station

Parking:  Parking for students at or around Carlisle campus is very limited.  Students are not permitted to park their vehicles within the campus grounds or in nominated areas set aside for staff and visitors.

The use of public transport is highly recommended to travel to and from Carlisle Campus as the campus is situated opposite the Oats Street Bus/Train Interchange on the Armadale railway line.  Students can catch the train or use the Circle Bus Route from this station.  Refer to the section on Public Transport for details of the Transperth Info line, Info centres and website. Timetables for local routes are also available from the campus Customer Service Centre.

The Town of Victoria Park allows students to park in the car park between the Aqualife Centre and the campus free of charge. There is also limited street parking around the campus in Bank, Somerset, Read and Withnell Streets. Limited parking bays may also be available along the railway reserve in Bank Street.

Note: The Town of Victoria Park has jurisdiction over parking within the campus grounds and infringement notices will be issued for vehicles which are illegally parked. If a notice is issued, the campus cannot have the notice withdrawn. We appreciate your cooperation on this matter.

The library provides:

  • Information sessions on library and information services, supported with published and online information guides;
  • Assistance with study, referencing and learning skills;
  • Networked and wireless computer areas;
  • Access to electronic information such as internet and databases; and
  • Access to audiovisual equipment.

Online Information

Students can access Polytechnic West’s Library catalogue, databases and web directories, as well as the Student Portal, from the Library website. Library publications including referencing and study guides can be freely downloaded from the website.

The library also has information on opening hours, contact details, library policies and rules, interactive tours and services.

Disability Services

Disability Services can assist local students in minimising any barriers to study caused by disability or a medical condition. The staff will coordinate services to meet individual needs; work to eliminate barriers which may disadvantage students; assist students to achieve their education and career goals; and encourage students to be independent and take responsibility for their course of study.
