Polytechnic Wests Bentley Hospitality Institute is a highly regarded provider of hospitality training. Our passionate lecturers are highly knowledgeable and supportive. They have industry experience from employment in five star hotels to alfresco and cafe dining.

Our hospitality students graduate work-ready and are actively sought by industry, particularly five-star hotels, because of their high level of practical knowledge.

Polytechnic West’s Western Australian Institute of Fashion and Textiles (WAIFT) was established in 1980; WAIFT is well regarded by the clothing industry and consistently recognised a main provider of quality training.

Over the years, WAIFT has formed a highly valued, close relationship with industry which benefits graduates by providing a smooth transition from study life to the work environment with a realistic expectation of the job opportunities available to them upon graduation.

Polytechnic West’s Bentley campus is across the road from Curtin University and next to Technology Park. Just 10 minutes from the Perth CBD, we’re part of one of the largest educational and technology precincts in Western Australia.

By bus: 100 from Canning Bridge Station; 33 or 34 from the Esplanade Bus Port, Perth City; 34 from Cannington Station

Parking: On-site parking, where available, will be charged at the rate of $44 per semester, payable at enrolment. Student parking permits can be purchased from Customer Service Centres on Polytechnic West campuses at time of enrolment. To purchase a permit a student must show proof of enrolment (such as a validated enrolment form) and complete a parking permit application form. Parking application forms are available from Polytechnic West Customer Service Centres.

Parking permits in the form of adhesive windscreen stickers will be supplied as part of the enrolment process. Parking signs prohibiting parking on any ring road or on lawn areas will be enforced by the City Ranger who will issue infringement notices.

The Bentley campus car park comes under the jurisdiction of the Town of Victoria Park parking by-laws. Infringement notices are issued to persons who do not comply with the following regulations:

  • Parking permits are to be displayed at all times;
  • Parking is restricted to marked bays;
  • Students are not permitted to park in areas marked staff or director parking only bays;
  • Speed limit is 15km/h; and
  • No reckless or dangerous driving.

The Bentley Pines Restaurant and Swan Bistro

Polytechnic West’s Gold Plate Awarded Bentley Pines training restaurant offers five-star dining for lunch and dinner at greatly reduced prices. The Swan Bistro is perfect for those looking for morning tea, a quick lunch bite or afternoon tea.

Young Master's Butchery and Bentley Bakehouse

Bentley’s on-campus bakery is open Monday to Friday and the Young Masters Butcher Shop, Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 12noon and 3pm. Both services only operate during school terms and stock is limited dependant on the students’ training schedule.

Design Lines Fabric Shop

Located on the fourth floor of Bentley’s B Block, Design Lines is open Monday to Friday between 9am and 3pm. Design Lines stocks fabrics, haberdashery and other clothing supplies to support WAIFT students. Supplies include designer fabrics at bargain prices, pattern-making needs, a wide range of interfacing, care labels, basic pattern blocks and more. Veterinary Clinic

The Veterinary Hospital provides a service to students, staff and the general public. You can bring your pet to the hospital to be cared for by a qualified Vet with assistance from our Vet Nursing students. Consultation fees are discounted to encourage clients to use the service and support the training of Veterinary Nurses. To find out more about these services call 9267 7125.

Textile Technology Access

Located in B Block, TTA offers a total service using Gerber Accumark in pattern making; pattern grading; marker making; patterns cut in card; CAD training in Gerber & Polynest; consulting services and design software training. No need to bring your lunchbox!

The Bentley cafeteria is open Monday to Friday (hours posted at the door) serving freshly made sandwiches and rolls, a changing selection of hot dishes and fast food favourites such as pizza, chips, hot dogs, sausage rolls and pies.

The Pines Bistro offers coffee, cake and lunch for those on the go; Betts at Technology Park is within easy walking distance; Karawara Shopping Centre is about a five-minute drive away, along Kent Street and, the café strip of Victoria Park is just eight minutes away by car.

Library

The library provides:

  • A large and diverse resource collection of books, magazines and DVDs;
  • Assistance with researching for information and answers to reference enquiries;
  • Information sessions on library and information services, supported with published and online information guides;
  • Assistance with study, referencing and learning skills;
  • Networked and wireless computer areas;
  • Access to electronic information such as internet and databases; and
  • Access to audiovisual equipment.

Online Information

Students can access Polytechnic West’s Library catalogue, databases and web directories, as well as the Student Portal, from the Library website. Library publications including referencing and study guides can be freely downloaded from the website.

The library also has information on opening hours, contact details, library policies and rules, interactive tours and services.

Disability Services

Disability Services can assist local students in minimising any barriers to study caused by disability or a medical condition. The staff will coordinate services to meet individual needs; work to eliminate barriers which may disadvantage students; assist students to achieve their education and career goals; and encourage students to be independent and take responsibility for their course of study.
